Nestled in the scenic Naugatuck Valley along the Naugatuck River, Seymour features a variety of housing options, from classic New England colonials and capes to more affordable starter homes and multi-family properties. Its location along Route 8 and access to rail service make commuting to New Haven, Connecticut, Bridgeport, Connecticut, and even New York City practical. Residents enjoy a quieter pace of life with nearby parks, walking trails, and access to outdoor destinations like Naugatuck State Forest, along with a town center that offers local shops, dining, and everyday conveniences.

Historically, Seymour has deep industrial roots dating back to the 19th century, when it developed as a manufacturing hub along the river. Originally part of Derby, Connecticut, the town was incorporated in 1850 and named after former governor Thomas H. Seymour. Its growth was fueled by factories producing goods such as brass, copper, and rubber products, many of which took advantage of the river’s water power. While much of that industry has faded, the town has evolved into a residential community that retains its historic character through preserved architecture and a traditional New England streetscape. Today, Seymour continues to invest in local improvements and community development, offering buyers a town with both heritage and future potential.
